Leaning into the tropes, the problematic PC for all the escapes detailed in this blog is a male human bard. This may require some adjustments be made if the PC is anything else.
I am essentially writing with the same repeated premise in mind:
The GM has introduced ~the monster~ and the horny bard player jumps in before any other actions can occur, declaring “I roll to seduce the monster!” The horny bard player then rolls a natural 20, thus pinning the GM into an awkward spot.
I do not include any DCs for the initial seduction roll, only the possible rolls that would follow. Feel free to set a seduction DC for each monster if you have a repeat offender at your table.
Most scenarios I outline will have positive and negative possible outcomes. Just because a monster can be seduced does not mean that the sex is successful in the eyes of the monster. If you’re trying to shut down such behavior, you may want to opt to use only the negative outcomes, foregoing the risk of dice rolls. Be aware that many of the negative outcomes may result in player death. No regrets.
To keep everything simple, I’ve set all knowledge and performance check DCs based on the creature’s CR (based on DnD 5e as the most popular option). If these seem inappropriate for a specific situation, feel free to adjust them as needed. These are intended as general guidelines only.
- CR 0-1 = DC 5
- CR 2-6 = DC 10
- CR 7-13 = DC 15
- CR 14-20 = DC 20
- CR 21-25 = DC 25
- CR 26-30 = DC 30
Additionally, adding advantage/disadvantage (or 1d4 bonuses/penalties) based on circumstances can add to the encounter. For example, if seducing a marine based creature on land, the player might roll with disadvantage. If a PC casts enlarge person on themselves prior to attempting to seduce a huge creature, they might be awarded a roll with advantage.
No creatures with an Intelligence of 5 or less will be actually seduced. This gets into a murky consent. If the monster cannot give consent, they cannot be seduced.
