Mimics are a classic TTRPG monster. They are shapechangers that commonly assume the form of chests hoping to tempt adventurers into reaching right into the mouth of the beast for an easy snack. Since chests are the favorite shape, that’s what I’ll be using here. If you as a GM have chosen to have a mimic imitate a sex toy, I’m sure you can figure that one out for yourself. DnD 5e mimics have a relatively low intelligence score and are therefore note seducible. Pathfinder mimics, on the other hand, have an average intelligence and reproduce via spores or fission. To seduce a mimic, the PC must have first identified the mimic which is arguably the more difficult task.
You know this one is a mimic. The last chest, and the several before that one, weren’t, but this one is. You feel it in your bones. Of course, you thought that about that sexy roughhewn door you saw last year too so maybe your mimic spotting abilities left a little something to be desired. Still, you wanted to feel that massive tongue lick between your legs so bad, you can’t avoid hoping. Slowly, you caress the lid of the chest. The rough hewn wood, the smooth brass bands, the curve of the lid, and sharp corners. It is the most perfect chest you’ve ever seen. An ideal specimen. Never has a chest been more chesty. It had to be a mimic. You start to finger the latch, hoping to awaken the creature to sexual heights.
Roll a performance check. DC 10
On a success: The lid creaks open on its own and, instead of a long purple tongue, a thick white glue oozes out. The chest begins to dissolve as the glue spreads. You are stuck in the ooze and still it expands, covering you, the walls, the floor, in a warm and reeking gel. The ground squelches beneath your feet as you try to pull free of the sticky carpet you’re now standing upon.
The mimic has left behind a 30 foot radius of protoplasm that is difficult terrain with the PC in the middle.
On a fail: The lid creaks open on its own and your hand moves with it as it reclines back, revealing massive pointed teeth. You are overwhelmed by the stench of the worst morning breath you’ve ever encountered and feel nauseated. When you try to withdraw, you realize your hand is firmly adhered to the chest lid.
Initiate combat with the PC adhered to the lid via the Adhesive feat.
